Geneva Live - BMW 2 Series Active Tourer

The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer had its public premiere at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. Based on the new UKL front wheel drive architecture that underpins the new Mini Cooper, the Active Tourer was previewed through the Concept Active Tourer at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.

The compact MPV measures 4,342 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, 1,555 mm in height and 2,670 mm in wheelbase. These dimensions put it on par with the Mercedes B Class and the VW Golf Sportsvan, which also happen to be its rivals.

Motivation for the 2 Series Tourer comes from a turbocharged, three-cylinder, 1.5-liter petrol engine which produces 136 hp and 220 Nm of torque (230 Nm with overboost function).

This engine enables the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 9.3 seconds and achieve 20.4 kpl in EU driving conditions.

Next up is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine which develops 231 hp and 350 Nm of torque, while a similar engine that combusts diesel produces 150 hp and 330 Nm of torque.

The Active Tourer is offered with a standard 6-speed manual transmission, though customers can also opt for an 8-speed automatic transmission. Choosing the automatic includes Launch Control as standard fitment on the MPV.
