In this recently uploaded Youtube video, Domagoj Dukec, BMW's chief exterior designer, presents the thought process of designers while penning the exterior of the BMW Concept X4. The Concept X4 makes its world premiere in Shanghai later this month.

Dukec says "Precision Poetry" is very important for BMW designs and is visible on this car in the detailing and the ridge surfaces.

The concept car measures 4,648 mm long, 1,915 mm wide and is 1,622 mm tall and is the smallest member of the SAC family which is likely to see future inclusions. It has a wheelbase of 2.81m and sits on 21-inch alloy wheels.

The production version of the Concept X4, with substantially identical dimensions, rolls out of BMW's plant in Spartanburg, USA from early 2014. The interior has not been previewed by BMW, but expect it to be along the lines of the newly launched 3 Series.

As the branding hints, the BMW X4 would be positioned between the X3 and X5 SUVs.
