As reported in June, BMW will unveil the BMW Concept X7 at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. In the latest, Bimmerpost has published leaked images of the BMW X7's concept version ahead of an official reveal tomorrow.

The BMW Concept X7 is an iPerformance plug-in hybrid model.

At the front, there's a expansive iteration of the brand's kidney grille with straight struts, connected to notably slim twin-element headlights featuring laser lighting with blue 'X' graphics. Also purposely large, are the vertical air inlets to make the presence of a full-size SUV felt. The imposing face masks over the subtle feminine creases of the hood. The A-pillar garnish on the windscreen merges up top into the sleek roof rails which border a large glass roof.

The profile comprises large shiny wheels, chrome-plated trim that extends from the Air Breather along the entire side of the vehicle and disguised door handles with chrome trim. At the rear, the wraparound LED tail lamps are connected, which is typical of large luxury vehicles, prominent vertical air outlets emphasise the SAV's size and segment, and the black skid plate is kept as subtle as in the front. Thus, X7 will have an individual design, and won't look just a stretched X5.

On the inside, the BMW Concept X7's dashboard, centre console and floor console have a familiar layout, but look a whole lot swankier than in the production BMW models. A large, high-resolution display takes up as the instrument cluster, the steering wheel has a flat bottom and touch controls, the infotainment system's display offers split-screen function and is closer to the driver and the centre console has minimal use of buttons. There appears lots of usage of chrome and aluminium inserts that shine with the ambient lighting throughout the front of the cabin.

The BMW X7 will ride on the CLAR rear-wheel drive platform. The charging port lid, and the 'i' and 'eDrive' badges confirm that the BMW Concept X7 is a PHEV. This is a clear indication that the BMW X7 will have a plug-in hybrid variant. Of course, BMW will offer a standard variant with conventional V6 and V8 engines. The standard X7 will likely have three petrol and three diesel engine models. xDrive30i, xDrive40i and xDrive50i are the petrol engine models expected and xDrive30d, xDrive40d and xDrive50d are the diesel models.

The BMW X7 will likely have three petrol and three diesel engine options, besides an obvious plug-in hybrid variant.

BMW will manufacture the BMW X7 at the Spartanburg plant in South Carolina, USA. The Mercedes GLS rival's production will commence in late 2018. The three-row SUV will compete with the Range Rover as well as the Cadillac Escalade and Lincoln Navigator. Reports say that BMW will offer a luxurious 4-seat version optionally.
