BMW F 850 GS Adventure launched in India at INR 15.40 lakh

BMW Motorrad India today launched the F 850 GS Adventure, which was unveiled at EICMA 2018. Imported via the CBU route, the motorcycle has been priced at INR 15.40 lakh (ex-showroom India).

The BMW F 850 GS Adventure (Pro) competes with the Triumph Tiger 800 XCa and the Ducati Multistrada 950 (with Enduro Pack) in India.

Speaking about the launch of the new BMW F 850 GS Adventure, Dr Hans-Christian Baertels, President (act.), BMW Group India, said:

For more than ten years, the GS models in the BMW Motorrad F series have embodied the premium range in the middle class travel and adventure enduro segment. With the launch of the all-new BMW F 850 GS Adventure, we are now expanding the premium BMW Motorrad range in this segment. The all-new F 850 GS Adventure offers travel enduro riders, off-road oriented touring riders and globetrotters the perfect companion for exploring the remote corners of the world by motorcycle.

The new BMW F 850 GS Adventure is available in one variant – Pro. Standard features include LED headlamp with LED daytime riding light, LED turn indicators, engine skid-plate low double seat, wide enduro footrests, cross-spoke wheels, tubeless tyres, cruise control, adjustable shift and foot brake levers and centre stand.

The instrument console on the BMW F 850 GS Adventure consists of an analogue tachometer and a multifunctional display. Buyers can opt for the Connectivity feature that comes with a 6.5-inch full-colour TFT display. Using the Connectivity feature, the rider can connect his smartphone to the TFT display via Bluetooth and control the phone and media functions via the BMW Motorrad multi-controller. BMW Motorrad Connected app also brings navigation to the TFT display.

Engine specifications include an 853 cc parallel twin-cylinder, water-cooled, 8-valve (4-valves per cylinder), DOHC motor that makes 95 hp at 8,250 rpm and 86 Nm at 6,250 rpm. The top speed of the motorcycle is rated at 197 km/h. The motor features crankshaft journal offset of 90 degrees and a firing interval of 270/450 degrees for a unique sound.

The BMW F 850 GS Adventure features two riding modes – Rain and Road – and Automatic Stability Control (ASC) as standard. Buyers can also select optional riding modes – Dynamic and Enduro – along with Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), banking capable (cornering) ABS Pro and Dynamic ESA.
