BMW G 310 R vs. KTM 390 Duke - Spec comparo

BMW Motorrad India is set to launch the BMW G 310 R and the G 310 GS on 18 July in India. The bike will directly rival the KTM 390 Duke. Ahead of its launch, here’s our detailed spec comparison between the BMW G 310 R and the KTM 390 Duke.

As compared to KTM 390 Duke, the features list on BMW G 310 R only include switchable ABS, digital display and LED taillights.

The BMW G 310 R will mark its entry into the premium performance segment dominated by the KTM 390 Duke. BMW Motorrad India, owing to its premium brand image, will position the G 310 R above the 390 Duke. The 390 Duke offers tremendous bang for your buck with its advanced tech features. The bike receives best-in-class features like ride-by-wire throttle system, LCD Instrument cluster with Bluetooth Smartphone connectivity, LED headlights and switchable ABS with Enduro mode. The bike features a slipper clutch as well, which the G 310 R misses out.

On the other hand, the BMW G 310 R features switchable ABS and digital instrument cluster. The bike gets conventional headlamps and LED taillights. Other features include upside down front forks and a preload adjustable rear mono-shock. The KTM 390 Duke uses USD front forks with open-cartridge technology and a preload adjustable mono-shock at the rear.

The BMW G 310 R employs a 313 cc, single-cylinder, liquid cooled, reverse inclined engine that is tuned to produce 33.5 bhp of maximum power and 28 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed transmission. The KTM 390 Duke uses a 373.2 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 43 bhp of maximum power and 37 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed transmission.

Both bikes are equipped with cast aluminium wheels and are shod with 17-inch tires. While the BMW G 310 R features Michelin Pilot Street tires, the KTM 390 Duke gets Metzeler Sportec M5 rubber. The KTM gets a price tag of INR 2.40 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). On the flipside, the BMW is likely to offer the G 310 R around INR 3-3.5 lakh (on the road).
