BMW M2 - 2016 Geneva Motor Show Live

Goes from 0-100 km/h in 4.3 seconds.

The BMW M2 made its European debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, which will serve as the M Division's entry level offering when it launches in Europe this April.

The exterior holds every element a BMW M car has such as the signature kidney grille with the M badge. The large front apron with trapezoidal blades and the Air Curtains in the outer air intakes take inspiration from the iconic BMW 3.0 CSL touring car racer.

With intelligent channeling of air, BMW successfully reduced drag by 5% as compared to the 2 Series Coupè despite the M2's stronger cooling performance. The improved aerodynamics has also decreased the lift by 35% significantly improving high speed stability.

The M2's interior gets black Dakota leather treatment with blue contrast stitching and M logo in backrests. Like any BMW M car, the steering wheel, rev counter, gearshift level, door sill plates get the M badge. The interior comfort package comes as standard, getting the Navigation Professional system, the Professional Media Package and Xenon headlights as standard.

The 3.0-liter straight six twin-power turbo engine under the hood churns out 370 bhp at 6,500 rpm with the rev limiter set at 7,000 rpm, while peak torque of 465 Nm is on tap between 1,400 and 5,560 rpm. The overboost function raises this figure by 35 Nm to 500 Nm between 1,450 and 4,750 rpm. As standard, the engine comes mated to the six-speed manual gearbox while the M DCT is available as an option. The M2 goes from 0-62 mph in 4.5 seconds with the manual gearbox (4.3 sec with the M DCT gearbox).
