BMW, MINI cars to cost 5% more in India from January 1, 2015 - IAB Report

Maintains its premium pricing over competitors.

BMW Group India is increasing the price of both BMW and MINI cars of up to 5% from January 1, 2015, says a company statement.

2014 was the year of M models in India.

Known for its premium pricing over competitors, the company intends to maintain this in the Indian luxury car segment, BMW India's president, Mr. Philipp von Sahr said.

Currently the BMW Group has products such as the BMW 1 Series, 3 Series, 3 Series Gran Turismo, 5 Series, 7 Series, X1, the X3 and X5 which are manufactured at its plant in Chennai. Besides that, BMW dealerships also sell the 6 Series Coupe and Gran Coupe, the ActiveHybrid 7, X6, the Z4, the M3 sedan, M4 Coupe, M5 sedan and M6 Gran Coupe, which are imported as CBUs.

The BMW 6 Series Individual and the 7 Series Individual can also be ordered as CBUs. Taking a step forward in sustainable mobility, the BMW Group India is also launching hybrid sportscar, BMW i8, in 2015.

The new Mini range was recently launched in India in 3- and 5-door variants.

Currently, BMW India has 37 sales outlets across the country. By end of next year, BMW India will widen its footprint by increasing the number of outlets to 50 across major metropolitan centers and emerging markets in India.
