IAB Report - BMW R nineT launched in India at INR 23.5 lakhs
The BMW R nineT, a classic retro motorcycle which was commissioned to commemorate the brand's 90 year presence in the two wheeler making business, has been launched in India at INR 23.5 lakhs (ex-showroom Mumbai, exclusive of Octroi).
The brawny motorcycle has a minimalistic approach to its design yet incorporates impressive attention to detail. A black with silver fuel tank padding is the only color theme available but customers can personalize their R nineT with an array of pillion seat and exhaust system options. To maintain the yesteryear aura, the bike comes fitted with spoke wheels.
The R nineT is powered by a 1,170 cc flat-twin (boxer) engine which puts out 108.6 bhp and 119 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox which sends power via a shaft drive.
The classic retro Beemer is suspended by inverted telescopic forks upfront (46 mm dia) and a single-sided swingarm with BMW paralever at the rear, offering hydraulically adjustable spring pre-load. Stopping power is courtesy of dual 320 mm discs with 4-piston calipers upfront and a single 265 mm disc with double piston calipers, aided by ABS.
The R nineT has an unladen weight of 222 kg and is capable of a claimed top speed of 200 km/h. BMW say that the motorcycle returns a fuel economy of 22.22 km/l (4.5 litres for 100 km) when a steady speed of 90 km/h is maintained.
The motorcycle is available in BMW Motorrad's three outlets in India - Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi.
