BMW S1000RR, BMW S1000XR - Auto Expo 2016

S1000XR to be launched in India soon.

BMW India showcased the latest versions of the BMW S1000RR and the BMW S1000XR at the Auto Expo 2016 in Greater Noida. The S1000XR nameplate has not been launched in India yet.

The BMW S1000RR is powered by a 1.0-litre four-cylinder engine that produces 198 hp of maximum power at 13,500 rpm and 113 Nm of torque at 10,500 rpm. It is offered with a six-speed gearbox. The motorcycle is equipped with three riding modes - Rain, Sport and Race in the standard version, and the Pro option adds Slick and User riding modes, and launch control.

The S1000RR also gets automatic stability control, ABS, gear shift assist, dynamic traction control and cruise control (which is the first time in a superbike).

The BMW S1000XR is an adventure tourer that is based on the S1000RR, sharing the chassis and the powertrain. The swingarm of the S1000RR is also shared with the XR but is extended to offer a 109 mm longer wheelbase.

The engine is the 999 cc in-line four-cylinder motor that is tuned to produce 160 hp and is mated to a six-speed transmission that is aided by the Gear Shift Assist Pro.
