Brazilian presenter can't wait for the camouflage to come off the Hyundai HB20

A Brazilian presenter from Auto Esporte recently visited Hyundai's Brazilian manufacturing plant to learn the progress of the Hyundai HB20, Hyundai's Brazil-specific i20-style hatchback. The feeling is understandable to a petrolhead or reporter - the wait to see a new car is a bittersweet anticipation.

Not anymore for this man, as he gives viewers his own teaser clippings of the car! Can't say whether Hyundai enjoyed this.

While we cannot understand his language, more elements of the car's design are beginning to emerge. As we suspected, the HB20 is a cross between the Sonata and the i-Gen i20. It is powered by 1-liter and 1.6-liter flex-fuel engines.

The HB20 is fitted with front airbags and optional ABS. Electric Windows, CD player with iPod input and steering wheel controls, hydraulically assisted steering wheel, air-conditioning, auto headlights, parking sensor and alloy wheels are some of the other features on this test vehicle.

There's no business for the HB20 outside South America, but we have read on Brazilian media channels that a mini SUV built using the same mechanicals, and sporting the same design language, will be introduced in the next couple of years. That is a product Hyundai India desperately needs if it has to stay with the pack as the mini SUV race is attracting everyone's participation.
