At the launch of the Jawa Motorcycles, Classic Legends confirmed that the upcoming BSA Motorcycles would feature a larger engine in India as well as other markets.
Speaking about the positioning and brand recall of the BSA brand, Mr Anupam Thareja, Founder – Classic Legends Pvt Ltd, said:
We have BSA Motorcycles in our portfolio. My definition of it is, BSA cannot be a 300cc model. It would be wrong for that BSA customer. Of course, BSA also made Bantam but the new products have to be right.
ArrayAt present, Classic Legends has two engine platforms – 293 cc and 334 cc, the power the Jawa motorcycles. The latter is a just bored-out version of the former. Both engines have their roots in Mahindra Mojo’s engine platform. The 293 cc motor churns out 27 bhp and 28 Nm of power, while the 334 cc powertrain develops 30 bhp and 31 Nm, respectively.

Classic Legends claim that launching a 300 cc BSA won’t make any justice to the niche brand. While it's early to speculate, the company could consider a sub-750cc engine for its bikes. This could also help BSA to compete with the recently launched Royal Enfield 650 twins.
It should be noted that BSA motorcycles had a range of 500, 650 and 750cc motorcycles in the post-World War II era. Some of the famous bikes from the British bikemaker include the BSA Spitfire, BSA A65 Star Twin, Thunderbolt, Rocket Gold Star, Royal Star and much more.
