Exclusive: CFMoto 300SR to be launched in India in mid-2020

The Chinese motorcycle brand CFMoto has been the topic of discussion in the Indian two-wheeler market for a while now. Earlier we exclusively broke to you the launch date of the first 4 products on 4 July 2019. Our sources have also confirmed that the company will be launching the fully-faired CFMoto 300SR sports motorcycle in India by mid-2020 (May-August 2020).

The CFMoto 300SR will be based on the 250SR concept pictured above.

The motorcycle was envisioned to us earlier in May in the form of the concept CFMoto 250SR. The quarter-litre concept motorcycle is a track tool with an Akrapovic exhaust, slick tyres and no headlights. Sources close to the development of the motorcycle has confirmed exclusively to IAB that the bike will be launching in the Indian market with a bigger, 300 cc mill.

The new model's engine will trace its origins to the CFMoto 300NK, the naked streetfighter which will be launched in India on 4 July. In the naked version, the 292.4 cc single cylinder engine produces 34 PS and a respectable 20.5 Nm of torque. The same tuning could be used for the fully-faired model. The fully faired bike will also offer two riding modes (sport and rain).

Cycle parts will be upside-down forks upfront and a monoshock in the rear. CFMoto will, however, swap the Akrapovic exhaust setup to a standard factory unit to keep costs under check. Instrumentation setup will include an all coloured TFT display, shared with the 300NK. The carbon-fibre tank will be replaced with more affordable materials.

CFMoto 300SR will get a steel trellis frame, while its swingarm will be an aluminium alloy unit. We would love to see the Isle of Mile TT racer livery to be offered in the production form. Braking duties in the 250SR concept is overseen by a radially mounted 4-pot calliper by Brembo. If CFMoto retains offers the same in the 300SR, it will make this model the most affordable bike in India fitted with Brembos as standard.

The key competitors to the CFMoto 300SR include the TVS Apache RR 310 and KTM RC 390. Unlike the rivals, which are locally manufactured, it will be brought to India via the CKD route. However, we still expect the bike to be priced competitively.
