CFMoto 650NK spied in India; video footage captures the exhaust note

CFMoto intends to participate in the growing Indian market, and the company is testing its products ahead of their launch in the country. Previously, we saw the CFMoto 650MT tourer and the 250NK naked roadster on Indian roads. Recently, another CFMoto product was spotted in India and the bike, as told by the test rider, is a 650 cc product. The only 650 cc naked roadster in CFMoto’s product portfolio is the 650NK that is currently sold in select international markets.

CFMoto also offers a relatively lower displacement version of the 650NK, the 400NK that shares a near identical design and one can be misled in believing that the motorcycle in the video is the 400 cc version. However, one (embedded above) of the videos uploaded on the YouTube channel reveals the fascia of the test mule that features a projector style headlight, thus confirming that the motorcycle that was spotted in Hyderabad was indeed the CFMoto 650NK.

Surprisingly, unlike the 250NK and the 650MT, the 650NK features conventional telescopic front forks sourced from KYB instead of upside down units. The rear features an asymmetrically mounted monoshock suspension.

Mechanical specifications on the motorcycle include a 649.3cc, 2-cylinder inline, 8-valve, liquid cooled, DOHC engine with Bosch EFI system. The motor delivers a decent 61.1 PS of maximum power at 9,000 rpm and 56 Nm of peak torque at 7,000 rpm. The engine is paired to a six-speed transmission. The numbers are relatively lower than its direct rival, the Kawasaki Z650 that produces 68 PS and 65.7 Nm. The top speed of the CFMoto 650NK is rated at 180 kph.

The motorcycle tips the weighing scale at 206 kg (kerb) which is on the heavier side as compared to the Z650’s 190 kg (kerb). The fuel tank capacity stands at 17-litre that should offer a decent range to the 650NK between fuel stops. Stopping power comes from petal-type disc brakes on both ends.

Internationally, the motorcycle is sold in two colour options – Athens blue/Pearl black and New pearl white/Pearl black and both choices are likely to be available in India. CFMoto would target to price the 650NK around the Kawasaki Z650 so expect the motorcycle to arrive near the INR 5 lakh (ex-showroom) levels. The 650NK is not likely to reach the Indian market before the second half of 2019 and without a BS-VI compliant motor.
