The Yamaha XSR155 recently made its debut in the Thailand market. Given the success of the YZF-R15 V3.0 – the motorcycle on which the XSR155 is based on – in India, Yamaha may consider bringing the retro-style bike here. Here's a YouTube video that gives a detailed look at the new product.

The YouTube video gives a closer look at the features of the XSR155 such as the headlight, fuel tank and the braking setup among other details before giving a glimpse at the colour options. As reported earlier, the Yamaha XSR155 is available in four colour options in Thailand – 80s Sport Heritage (White and Red), Premium (Silver with tan-brown leather seat cover), Elegance (Black) and Wanderlust (Olive Green). The Indian-spec model, when launched, may miss the Wanderlust (Olive Green) paint option as it is too close to the green reserved for Indian Army vehicles.

The XSR155 is built around a Deltabox frame that also underpins the YZF-R15 V3.0 and the MT-15. Hardware specifications, too, are similar to its international-spec siblings. Thus, you would find inverted telescopic front forks on the XSR155. The Indian-spec model will use conventional telescopic forks to keep the costs low.

The XSR155 shares its engine specifications with the YZF-R15 and the MT-15. Thus, propelling tasks are performed by a 155 cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, 4-valve motor with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) system that produces 19.3 PS of peak power at 10,000 rpm and 14.7 Nm of maximum torque at 8,500 rpm. The motor is linked to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper and an assist clutch.

Other key features of the motorcycle include disc brakes on both wheels, 10-litre fuel tank, XSR900-inspired styling, LED headlight, LED tail light, conventional blinkers with clear screen and an LCD instrument console. The dual-tone fuel tank, a ribbed pattern on the saddle and the spherical taillight design further enhances the old-school looks of the bike.

The new XSR155 shares its underpinnings and engine specifications with the YZF-R15 V3.0. The feature list of the motorcycle includes LED headlight, LED taillamp and LCD screen.

The Indian launch details could be announced at Auto Expo 2020. Meanwhile, Yamaha is working on another model that will share its underpinnings with the YZF-R15. Patent documents from Indonesia have revealed the WR155 and WR155R brand names, thus hinting at a 155 cc dual-purpose bike.
