Chevrolet Sail-based Baojun 330 spotted undisguised - China
Will make its debut at the 2015 Chengdu Auto Show.
Spyshots of an undisguised pre-production prototype of the Baojun 330 have surfaced in the web, revealing the final exterior and interior design, as well as equipment offered.
The 330 is based on the previous generation Chevrolet Sail sedan (that is sold in India), which is no coincidence as GM has 43% stake in the company. Baojun is a sub-brand of the SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture, and will cater to the entry-level segment.
Rather than being a clone of the Chevrolet Sail, the Baojun 330 adopts a new design that bears little resemblance to its American counterpart. For an entry-level sedan, Baojun 330 looks good on paper, given that it features a large LCD touchscreen display and a premium interior. It measures at 4300 mm overall length, 1748 mm width, 1500 mm height and a wheelbase of 2520 mm.
The Baojun 330 will pack a 1.5 liter four-cylinder petrol engine producing 109hp, and mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The engine is also offered with the latest Chevrolet Sail, although it is paired to a six-speed manual.
The Baojun 330 will be the company's newest entry-level sedan in the crowded Chinese market. It will make its debut at the 2015 Chengdu Auto Show, followed by a market launch. A hatchback version of the Baojun 330 will be introduced in 2016, say Chinese reports.
