The Chevrolet Sail sedan was left longing for attention even as the GM stall at NAIAS was thronged by journalists and other members of the automotive fraternity.

All the eyeballs were invariably directed towards the all new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray which took the center stage and stole the show. Nevertheless, Indian Autos Blog's international representatives who were present at NAIAS turned their cameras towards the humble Chinese sedan after clicking some copious photographs of the Vette.

The Sail showcar was painted in a glossy deep blue shade, which we hope will be offered in the India as well. The reason for Sail's presence is to know what Americans think about the Chinese sedan which carries the familiar bow tie badge, and to "put the International" in NAIAS.

The Chevrolet Sail sedan is expected to be launched in the coming weeks with a 1.2 litre petrol and 1.3 litre XDSE (Fiat's MultiJet) diesel engine. Even though the car's powertrains qualify for small car tax benefits, the Sail sedan is not a sub-four meter vehicle.

The reason is, with this single car, GM India is looking to plug the voids created by the demise of Aveo and Optra Magnum. The company is reportedly planning an high end LTZ variant with all the bells and whistles to negate the absence of Optra Magnum.
