GM launches entry-level Chevrolet Spin variant in Brazil

Do you remember the Chevrolet Spin? The Spin is the Chevrolet Enjoy's sister car in the Brazilian market. It does not share anything in common with the Enjoy except for the purpose of existence - to provide a comfortable car for the joint middle class family.

The dimensions are slightly bigger than the Maruti Ertiga with the Spin measuring 4.36m long, 1.74m wide and 1.66m tall.

The Spin was launched in three LT and two LTZ variants, paired to a six-speed manual transmission. GM had shown a white example at the Indonesian Motor Show last year, and reports do suggest that Indonesia would be the first Asian market the Brazil-engineered Spin heads to, sometime this year. Chances of the Spin arriving in India is slim as the Chinese-engineered Chevrolet Enjoy would take its place in India.

To make the Chevrolet Spin a more affordable proposition and attract fleet customers, GM has launched an entry level variant, Spin LS, in the Brazilian market this year. Our friends at Car Blog Brazil have the full lowdown.

The Spin LS comes with a knife-type key, 15 inch steel wheels and black body fittings. In its interior, there's serious lack of equipment with no power windows, no stereo and manual aircon but the car does get driver side airbag, 12V power socket, digital display and all the readouts one can view on the higher variants.

The Spin retains the same mechanical specification as the richer variants with power coming from a 1.8-liter engine, good for 106hp and 164Nm. The LS variant is priced at 11.95 lakhs, compared to the LT1 variant that starts at 12.15 lakhs.
