Chevrolet Trax caught uncamouflaged for the first time

The Chevrolet Trax has been on our radar since quite some time now. Essentially, the Chevrolet Trax is a mini SUV designed and engineered to take on the Renault Duster and Ford EcoSport. The Trax has been caught uncamouflaged on the streets of city of San Luis Potosí in Mexico. The Chevrolet Trax will be sold in 140 countries and Mexico is definitely on the list.

In Mexico, the Chevrolet Trax will be launched with the ‘Enjoy’ nameplate. GM’s manufacturing plant in Mexico just received 120 million investment for the production of the Trax/Enjoy. General Motors has plans to export the Trax to mainly to the U.S. and Brazilian markets from the Mexico plant.

Chevrolet Trax sizeThe Trax is a compact four door SUV whose dimensions are - 4,248 mm in length, 1,776 mm in width and a wheelbase of 2,555 mm. This baby Captiva will be launched in 3 engine options– a 1.4L turbocharged petrol which produces 140hp, a 1.6L petrol producing 115hp and a 1.7L turbodiesel engine which churns out 130hp. The engine will be mated to 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

It has some really clever bits in the interiors as well such as 60/40 split rear bench, 358L of luggage space, MyLink infotainment system with a navigation app, 7-inch touch screen, Start/Stop functionality, etc. It is packed with 6 airbags, ABS and EBD, Traction control and Electronic Stability Control including Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control.

The Chevrolet Trax will be also sold as the Buick Encore and the Opel Mokka. The Trax, Encore and Mokka are essentially the same cars underneath with some design changes. The Trax will make its public debut at the Paris Motor Show and we will get you all the details from the launch as promised.
