Chinese clones: BMW G 310 GS shamelessly copied by Everest
Have a look at this Everest Kaiyue 400X, a copy of BMW G 310 GS global model that is made in India. The Chinese market is known for creating copies of famous models from the West. This adventure tourer has received an update recently and was launched in China recently for CNY 29,800 (INR 2.98 lakh).
Powering the Everest Kaiyue 400X is a 378 cc twin-cylinder, 8-valve, liquid-cooled mill sourced from Zongshen, which in case if you are wondering, is another Chinese motorcycle manufacturer. Coupled to a 6-speed gearbox, the engine produces 36 PS of power and 35 Nm of torque. These output figures seem modest for a near 400 cc twin-cylinder engine. In comparison, the India-made BMW G 310 GS’ 313 cc single-cylinder mill churns out 34 PS of power and 28 Nm of torque.
The Everest Kaiyue 400X is suspended over 41 mm inverted telescopic fork up front and a monoshock in the rear. Both have an enviable stroke of 165 mm and 160 mm respectively. Braking duties are administered by two 296 mm discs in the front with dual-piston callipers and a 240 mm disc with a single-piston calliper in the rear. Dual-channel ABS is offered as a standard fitment.

The Chinese call it the Super Adventure and the Everest Kaiyue 400X continues with an extended front beak. Also available is a tall windscreen, and a fuel tank shaped pretty much like the BMW G 310 GS. The tank extension-cum radiator shrouds. It even gets a tall 200 mm ground clearance and a rather accessible 790 mm seat height.
