All-new Citroen C5 Aircross (India-bound) - Motorshow Focus

The PSA Group showcased the all-new Citroen C5 Aircross at the 2018 Paris Auto Show. The company plans to re-enter the Indian market with the launch of the this C-SUV in 2019.

The Citroen C5 Aircross is expected to be the first Citroen model in India. Initially, PSA is expected to use the CKD route to assemble the SUV.

Inspired in design by the Citroen Aircross Concept that was unveiled at Auto Shanghai 2015, the C5 Aircross features full LED headlights, 19-inch alloy wheels, 'Airbump' protector, dual exhausts with chrome tips and two-tone roof rails.

Based on the EMP2 platform, the C5 Aircross measures 4,500 mm in length, 1,840 mm in width and 1,670 mm in height. The ground clearance and wheelbase figures stand at 230 mm and 2,730 mm respectively. Boot volume is expandable to 1,630 litres, and with the rear seats in place, can take up to 580 litres.

For the European market, the C5 Aircross is offered with two petrol and three diesel options. Power outputs range from 130 bhp to 180 bhp and transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a new EAT8 8-speed automatic gearbox. The C5 Aircross will also be the first Citroen to be available with plug-in hybrid (PHEV) technology in late 2019, the company has announced. The plug-in hybrid variant was shown at the 2018 Paris Motor Show along with the standard variant.

Apart from offering two petrol and three diesel options, Citroen has also confirmed a PHEV on the C5 Aircross, making it the first PHEV for the company.

The European market launch of the C5 Aircross is set towards the end of 2018. It will be produced at the Rennes-La Janais plant in France. For the Indian market, PSA is likely to use the CKD route and assemble the SUV at its announced Chennai facility.
