Cleveland CycleWerks sets up a factory in India; launch in October 2018

Cleveland CycleWerks is all set to start its India operations as the company has set-up its factory in Pune. Pranav Desai - Director & CEO at Cleveland CycleWerks India, took to Linkedin to share religious ceremonies preceding the start of production at its Pune factory were completed.

Cleveland CycleWerks India will introduce its motorcycles in India in October 2018. The company has set-up its assembly plant in Pune.

Moreover, the company has received CKD units of its first 100 bikes at its factory in Pune. The company is in the process of setting up the assembly line at its factory, where it will assemble these motorcycles. Cleveland CycleWerks India had earlier revealed on 14 June, that it would launch its range of bikes in India in October 2018.

Cleveland CycleWerks has partnered with Hyderabad-based Laish-Madison Motor Werks for the production and distribution of its motorcycles in India. The company is also in the process of setting up dealerships across India while hiring various executives for critical positions. Cleveland CycleWerks India will import CKD kits from China and assemble them at the Pune facility. The company aims to sell around 5,000 units of its motorcycles in India by the end of 2019.

The company showcased the Cleveland Misfit, Cleveland Ace Deluxe, Cleveland Ace Scrambler and the Cleveland Ace Café in India at the 2018 Auto Expo. All the bikes mentioned above employ a 229 cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that is capable of producing a maximum power of 15.4 bhp at 7,000 rpm along with a peak torque of 16 Nm at 6,000rpm. The engine transfers control to the rear wheel via five-speed gearbox with a final chain drive.

The Cleveland Misfit and the Cleveland Ace Café feature dedicated café racer styling with a long tear-drop tank and single-seat. On the other hand, the Cleveland Ace Scrambler and Cleveland Ace Deluxe are classic retro scramblers that feature round fuel tank, wide handlebar, and a long single-piece seat.

The Cleveland Misfit, Ace Café and Ace Deluxe feature upside-down forks and twin shock absorbers at the rear, while the Ace Scrambler features conventional telescopic forks up front. Anchorage comes from 298 mm front disc with twin-piston calliper and a 210 mm rear disc with a single-piston calliper on all the motorcycles. The Cleveland Ace Café and Ace Deluxe run on 17-inch wire-spoke aluminium wheels, while the Ace Scrambler features 18-inch rims.

Cleveland CycleWerks India will import CKD kits from China and will assemble them at the Pune facility.

All the Cleveland Ace models tip the weighing scales at 133 kg while they feature a similar fuel tank capacity of 14 litres. We expect Cleveland CycleWerks India to launch these bikes in India at the price of about INR 2 lakh (ex-showroom).
