Earlier this year, Chinese media had revealed Skoda’s confirmation of launching a Skoda Kodiaq Coupe. Now, PCauto.com.cn has published a picture of Skoda’s future product plan, which suggests the derivative could carry the ‘Skoda Kodiaq GT’ badge.

The Skoda Kodiaq GT will likely have a sporty design influenced by that of the Skoda Vision E concept

The Skoda Kodiaq GT will feature a sporty design influenced by that of the Skoda Vision E concept, through which Skoda showcases the design language of its future EVs. The core front and rear elements such as the headlamps, grille layout and tail lamps may look largely similar to that of the Skoda Kodiaq. Skoda may fit sportier bumpers, larger alloy wheels and rework the shoulders and wheel arches for a more athletic look.

The Skoda Kodiaq GT will join Skoda’s line-up as an extension of the Skoda Kodiaq range. With that said, the MQB platform should form its basis. One can expect plenty of shared components, mechanically and aesthetically. The regular Kodiaq is available with 132 kW (180 PS) 1.8-litre and 162 kW (220 PS) 2.0-litre TSI engines.

Skoda is considering launching the Skoda Kodiaq GT in Europe too. Pictured is the Skoda Vision E Concept.

Skoda will launch the Skoda Kodiaq GT in China in 2018. The company is considering extending the availability of this model to Europe as well. However, its Czech Republic plant is already running 24 hours a day six days a week, and unless a fresh investment is made to increase output, this is a bottleneck in the global rollout of the coupe-crossover.
