Custom Suzuki Swift Sport showcased at 2018 Thai Motor Expo - Live

Other than displaying the Suzuki Swift Sport Auto Salon Version, Suzuki Motor (Thailand) has showcased a custom version of its performance-focussed small car at the ongoing 2018 Thai Motor Expo.

The carbon fibre hood, dual tone machined alloy wheels and a large rear wing are the instantly noticeable changes in this custom Swift.

The custom Suzuki Swift Sport retains most of its original styling, including the distinct "staggered" design for the large honeycomb grille. The change is from the new carbon fibre hood, which is not only a tried-and-tested weight saving measure but also makes the car look sportier.

In the side profile, the regular dual-tone machined alloy wheels have made way for larger multi-spoke rims in a dark gold colour shade. Changes at the rear are restricted to the replacement of the standard roof spoiler with a large GT-wing.

The Suzuki Swift Sport is powered by the K14C 1.4-litre Boosterjet petrol engine that produces a maximum power of 140 PS at 5,500 rpm and a peak torque of 230 Nm from 2,500-3,500 rpm. The turbocharged petrol engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission that drive the front wheels.

The Suzuki Swift Sport uses performance-tuned Monroe shock absorbers and a bigger strut bar. The wheel hub and wheel bearings have been made into a single unit, and the width between the bearings has been expanded. As a result, there has been a 15 per cent increase in camber rigidity during cornering. The torsion beam has been updated to offer a higher roll stiffness.

The interior and the specifications of this custom Suzuki Swift Sport seems to have remained untouched. The stock model is powered by a K14C turbo-petrol motor and features a sportier suspension with Monroe performance shock absorbers.

Maruti seems to have no plans of launching the Swift Sport in India. The reason for this is the poor demand for costly hatchbacks from non-luxury car marques. The company could launch an 'RS' version of the regular Swift, which will draw power from the K10C 1.0-litre motor found on the Baleno RS.
