Report - Daihatsu's new tall-boy urban car to be revealed in November, images leaked

It will likely be powered by a 660 cc engine.

Daihatsu's all-new tall-boy city car, which is reported to be called the '1BOX', will be revealed next month in Japan, a report says. The 1BOX will have an overall height of 1,835 mm, and the cabin's height will be 1,455 mm to ingest tall objects and provide easy entry and exit for passengers. The car will have a wheelbase of 2,215 mm.

The 1BOX gets sliding rear doors for easier ingress/egress.

An interior image of the car reveals the 50:50 split folding rear seats, which fold flat to accommodate objects like cycles. Further, the rear doors of the car are of the sliding type for easier access in tight parking spots, common in downtown Tokyo.

Power for the 1BOX would come from a 660 cc engine that will classify it as a "kei car" in Japan. The engine would be available with 2WD and 4WD configurations, and would have a comparable fuel efficiency with its rival, the Mitsubishi eK Wagon.

The 1BOX takes design inspiration from the Daihatsu Deca Deca concept.
