Indonesia - Daihatsu Xenia Scarlet showcased

At the IIMS 2013, Daihatsu presented a new top-end trim line on the Xenia called the 'Scarlet' which imagines a luxurious variant without compromising on the minivan's everyday usability. The Scarlet adds further luxury to the 'Veloz' variant, which is the current top-end model in Indonesia.

Designed in-house, the Scarlet variant provides a richer and luxurious look to the car with a chrome grille, projector headlights, new bumpers, low profile tires and a special body color.

Modified by ADM Design (the design division of PT Astra Diahatsu Motor), the show car sports a chrome grille, projector headlights, LED daytime running lights instead of the default foglamps, 19-inch alloy wheels with a glossy finish, a full body kit and a new rear bumper with auxiliary stop lamps pushed to the corners.

The Xenia is a rebadged Toyota Avanza and yet it features in the top 5 best selling vehicles in Indonesia every month.

Hop into the cabin, and the Daihatsu Xenia Scarlet feels (or is meant to feel) luxurious with black faux-wood accents on the door trim, beige leather seats, an LCD touchscreen and a multifunction steering wheel.

Daihatsu have not announced if there is a production possibility for this variant. If green lit, it would be positioned above the current top-end model, the Xenia Veloz.

The Daihatsu Xenia Scarlet sadly has no extra oomph under the bonnet. You get the same 86hp 1.5-liter petrol engine.

The dark fake-wood inserts, a touchscreen multimedia system, a multifunction steering wheel and leather seats constitute changes made to the cabin.

Daihatsu have not announced prices or commented on the production prospects of this car, but it is being reported that the response from the visitors would be studied for further decisions.
