India-made Datsun GO+ launched in South Africa
Exported from the Renault-Nissan Alliance's Oragadam plant.
On 31 August, Datsun launched its second car in South Africa - the Datsun GO+, with prices starting at R 1,34,900 (including VAT). The Datsun GO+ sold in the African country is imported from the Renault-Nissan Alliance plant in Oragadam near Chennai.
The Datsun GO+ is available in South Africa in two versions: (5+2) 7-seat MPV and Panel Van. The GO+ Panel Van is the company's first product to be offered in the light commercial vehicle category.
The Datsun GO+ 7-seat MPV features foldable third-row seats, which when folded, leads to 347 litres of luggage. Being an economy car, basic features like driver's side airbag, air conditioner, drive computer, dark interior and mobile docking station form the GO+'s highlights. Both GO+ and GO+ Panel Van were showcased at the SA Festival of Motoring earlier this month.
The Datsun GO+ is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 50 kW (67.02 hp) at 4,000 rpm. This should be the same three-cylinder engine employed in the Datsun GO. It consumes 5.2-litre of petrol per 100 km, which converts to a fuel economy figure of 19.23 km/l.
