India-made Datsun Go with ABS and airbags to launch this year - South Africa
The Go is the only Datsun product on sale in Africa.
According to a report on IOL, the Datsun Go with safety features such as ABS and airbags will launch in South Africa in the second half of this year. The Go is exported from the Renault-Nissan Alliance's Chennai plant, and was launched in Africa in October 2014.
Following the Global NCAP's test results on the Go, the brand received flak for not offering any occupant protection. The report released by the testing agency said that it would be pointless even fitting an airbag on the car, though Nissan iterates that the Go meets local safety requirements of the markets it is present in.
The recently launched Go+ is available with a driver-side airbag as an option. Priced between INR 3.79 to INR 4.61 lakhs, ex-Showroom, New Delhi for the non-airbag variants, the Go+ is Datsun's second product in India. It aims to form a niche by offering a third row of seats, which are only suitable for children though.

Coming back to the Go, sales of the hatchback hit an all time low of 455 units last month. Over the past 6 months, the car sold an average of 872 units per month, which former Nissan Chief Planning Officer, Andy Palmer, admitted was below expectations.
