Datsun redi-GO arrives at dealership ahead of launch
Announced to cost from INR 2.5-3.5 lakhs.
Ahead of its launch expected to take place on June 1, 2016, the Datsun redi-GO has started arriving at dealerships. The image below is from a dealership in Goa, which is gearing up to display the entry-level hatchback.
Based on the same platform as the Renault Kwid, Nissan India stated that the Datsun redi-GO will be priced between INR 2.5-3.5 lakhs. It has already opened bookings for the redi-GO for an initial payment of INR 5,000.
Similar to the Kwid, the Datsun redi-GO is powered by the three-cylinder 0.8-liter petrol engine developing 54 hp at 5,678 rpm and 72 Nm at 4,388 rpm. Paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, the redi-GO too claims an ARAI-rated fuel efficiency of 25.17 km/l despite weighing over 25 kg lighter than its French cousin.
Features on the redi-GO will include LED daytime running lights, front power windows, power steering, AC, a music system with CD/USB/AUX and an optional driver airbag. The redi-GO is rated as having best-in-class ground clearance of 185 mm with approach angle of 26.8 degrees and departure angle of 58.6 degrees. It will come in five colors – White, Silver, Ruby Red, Lime and Bronze Gray.

Competition for the redi-GO, aside from the Renault Kwid, will include the Maruti Alto 800 facelift and the Hyundai Eon.
