Datsun is wasting no time in expanding its product portfolio as a sedan has been spotted testing in Russia. The sedan is based on the Lada Granta's platform.

This Datsun sedan was caught testing in Russia.

The report comes from Carscoops and says that the entry-level sedan was spied in Russia earlier this week. Though the name of the sedan remains unknown, speculation is rife that the car will make its debut at the 2014 Moscow Motor Show which takes place in August this year.

The sedan gets the standard Datsun grille and a sculpted bonnet. The rear sees a small spoiler tip at the edge of the boot lid which gets the Datsun logo and a horizontal chrome strip above the loading bay.

Nissan India had earlier confirmed that the Datsun sedan will not make it to India.

Ajay Raghuvanshi, Nissan India's vice-president, had earlier said that the entry-level sedan is not in consideration for India. India gets only the Datsun Go, revealed in July last year, the Go+ MPV and the I2 small car, which will make its debut at the Auto Expo 2014 in concept form.

Datsun India had announced that it would go on sale in March 2014 through existing Nissan dealerships in a "Shop-in-shop" concept. Production of the Datsun Go will be flagged off on February 4th in the Renault-Nissan alliance plant in Oragadam near Chennai.
