Dealer-modified Yamaha MT-15 gets white colour with orange wheels

India Yamaha Motor may have introduced the MT-15 in only two colours – Metallic Black and Dark Matt Blue – but that hasn't restricted customers from going for other colours, thanks to dealer-level mods.

Dealership level modification gives the Yamaha MT-15 white paint with orange rims. The new paint theme looks more appealing than the standard colour options offered by Yamaha in the Indian market.

In Mumbai and Bangalore, the Yamaha MT-15 was spotted in white colour recently. While the unit in Mumbai had black alloys, the unit in Bangalore featured orange rims. Yamaha offers a similar paint scheme on the international-spec MT-15, the 2019 MT-03 and the MT-09. The white paint can be seen on the fuel tank, radiator surrounds and the rear panel. Both bikes look appealing with the white paint option, but the unit with orange rims is the more desirable one. Agree?

Being a dealer-level modification, the white MT-15 would be available at a marginal premium over the standard motorcycle. For reference, Yamaha had launched the MT-15 in India at an ex-showroom Delhi price tag of INR 1.36 lakh. The dealership would register the bike, and the Registration Certificate would mention the paint as White, thus saving you the trouble of running to the RTO to update the details.

The changes are limited to the new paint option. Buyers can also customise their MT-15 with the optional accessories offered by Yamaha. The list of optional extras includes tank pad, seat cover, tandem footrest, skid plate, USB charger and mobile phone holder.

The Yamaha MT-15 is the naked roadster equivalent of the Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 and comes equipped with a projector-style headlight and LED DRLs, upright ergonomics and a digital instrument console. Both MT-15 and YZF-R15 are built around the famed Deltabox frame.

Apart from the chassis, both models also share the 155 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, SOHC, 4-valve engine with fuel injection. Mated to a six-speed gearbox withassist and slipper clutch, the powertrain makes a healthy 19.3 PS of max power at 10,000 rpm and 14.7 Nm of peak torque at 8,500 rpm.

Anchoring tasks are performed by a 282 mm hydraulic single disc at the front and 220 mm hydraulic single disc at the back. However, unlike the YZF-R15 V3.0, the MT-15 has a single-channel ABS.
