A wide portfolio is to be made available in India.

Autocar Professional reports that Pune-based DSK MotoWheels, a company which assembles and sells the Hyosung motorcycles in India, is looking to expand its horizon by entering into a partnership with Italian sportsbike maker Benelli.

The Benelli BN302 street fighter is the starting point of the range.

According to the publication's sources, DSK MotoWheels is on schedule with the partnership arrangement and would bring the century old sportsbike brand to the country sooner than later.

Benelli, which has seen various ownerships over the course of time is currently under the wings of China-based Qianjiang Corporation. The deal with DSK would be mutually beneficial as both get to increase their quantum of business.

Benelli's current portfolio starts with a parallel-twin 300 cc naked street fighter and goes all the way up to a 1,130 cc in-line three cylinder tourer. DSK MotoWheels is expected to get the entire product range to India including the in-line four-cylinder 600 cc and in-line three-cylinder 898 cc offerings.

The in-line four-cylinder engined BN600 R sportsbike is also reportedly on the cards for India.

With the compact sportsbike segment in India growing at an impressive rate, the entry level Benelli BN302 300 cc naked motorcycle, if launched, would take the fight straight to the KTM Duke 390.

It remains to be seen whether DSK will import the Benellis as CBUs or go far a local assembly as in the case of Hyosung.
