The Ducati Panigale V4R, which made its debut at the recently concluded EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, has been launched in the Indian market for INR 51.87 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The motorcycle will be limited to just five units in the Indian market, and the bookings have opened across Ducati dealerships in the country.

The V4 R comes with a 998cc motor to meet the norms of the road-legal WSBK category. Only five units have been allocated for the Indian market.

Customers who make the bookings before the end of November would get deliveries in the first quarter of 2019. Reservations made after November would receive the motorcycle in the Q2 of 2019.

Unlike the Panigale V4 and the V4S, which are equipped with a 1,103cc engine, the V4 R comes with a 998cc motor to meet the norms of the road-legal WSBK category. Unlike the larger V4, the 998cc Desmosedici Stradale R is tuned to offer extreme performance as power delivery has been designed with the track in mind. The engine on the Panigale V4 R delivers a maximum power output of 221 hp at 15,250 rpm and peak torque of 112 Nm at 11,500 rpm.

The performance figures can go up higher with the full-racing Ducati Performance exhaust by Akrapovic, boosting the maximum power to 234 hp at 15,500 rpm, making the Panigale V4 R the most potent Ducati factory motorcycle ever. The R badge model is lighter than the V4S, tipping the weighing scale at 193 kg (kerb)/173 kg (dry), giving it a healthier power-to-weight ratio.

Stopping power comes from radial-mounted, four-piston, Brembo Stylema callipers. Suspension duties are performed by race-grade titanium-nitride-coated 43mm Ohlins NPX 25/30 fork at the front and Ohlins TTX 36 shock at the rear.

Similar to the current Panigale V4, the R version uses technology taken directly from MotoGP. Apart from a new engine and suspension set-up, the Panigale V4 R also gets a new fairing with winglets for improved aerodynamic efficiency, increased stability and to reduce reliance on electronic controls. The fairing has been designed and developed by Ducati Corse, in collaboration with Ducati Style Centre.

The maximum power output of 221 hp can be pushed to 234 hp with the full-racing Ducati Performance exhaust by Akrapovic.
