Eighth-gen Audi A6 to be offered with a 245 PS petrol engine in India - Report
The eighth-gen Audi A6 was officially revealed last year and it is headed for the Indian market. While the seventh-gen A6 petrol, which is sold in India comes with a 1.8-litre engine, according to a new report, the eighth-gen A6 petrol will come with a 2.0-litre unit.
The aforementioned 1.8-litre petrol engine is known to deliver 190 PS of maximum power and 320Nm of torque. This engine comes mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The 2.0-litre petrol engine, on the other hand, pushes out 245 PS of maximum power and 370 Nm of peak torque. This engine is also linked to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. In India, it will be BS-VI compliant right from the beginning.
ArrayThere will be a diesel engine option in the all-new Audi a6, but which one, remains to be seen. The Volkswagen Group is planning on upgrading the current 2.0-litre diesel to the BS-VI standards as this engine does duties on a number of Volkswagen Group models, including the Skoda Octavia and Skoda Kodiaq among others. Internationally, the executive sedan already comes with a Euro6-compliant version of this engine which delivers 204 PS and 400 Nm of torque.
The latest Audi A6 makes use of the latest design language that was displayed with the Audi Prologue concept models. At the front it comes with an angular and wider hexagonal singleframe grille and HD Matrix LED headlights that incorporate DRLs in the form of five horizontal lines. While at the back, the combination lamps have a sharper design and a new tailgate. The new rear combination lamps comprise nine vertical light signature elements along with a single horizontal line and are connected by a chrome strip. The overall design of the A6 stays exciting and youthful.
In terms of dimensions, the Audi A6 measures 4,939 mm in length, 1,886 mm in width and 1,457 mm in height. The redesigned model is 7 mm longer, 12 mm wider and 2 mm taller than the outgoing model. The wheelbase has grown by 12 mm to 2,924 mm. Inside, all-new Audi A6 follows footsteps of the latest Audi A8 and Audi A7. One of its main highlights is the dual-display setup, a 10.1-inch infotainment display on the top and an 8.6-inch display on the bottom for the climate control, convenience functions, text input. Unlike its predecessor, it includes Audi virtual cockpit fully-digital instrument cluster as well.

The old Audi A6's prices start at INR 50.01 lakh (ex-showroom). The new-gen Audi A6 should also be priced from around INR 55 lakh (ex-showroom).
