2014 Goodwood - Elemental Rp1 makes its dynamic debut at FOS

British supercar Elemental Rp1 made its dynamic debut at the 2014 Goodwood FOS (Festival of Speed). The Rp1 is a road legal open top sportscar with a mid mounted engine. The car is designed, developed and built by a team of engineers who have rich experience in Formula 1 and supercar industries.

The Elemental Rp1 is a road-legal track-focused sportscar.

The Rp1 is held together by a carbon-fibre and aluminium composite tub which was developed in association with the British government's Technology Strategy Board. The rear sub-frame features a 'casette' type engine mounting system which is seen in racing machines. The arrangement allows the Rp1 to adopt various powertrains.

The production development vehicle (XP2) is powered by a tuned version of the Ford EcoBoost 2.0-litre engine that produces 280 hp (on the DC Avanti, the same engine is tuned to produce 250 hp). The longitudinally mounted engine is mated to a Hewland 6-speed sequential gearbox with paddle shifters. Limited slip differential and track-focused gear ratios are optional for customers who intend to use their Rp1 for racing.

The Elemental Rp1 can also be specified with a tuned version of the award-winning Ford EcoBoost 1.0-litre engine and the 999 cc Honda Fireblade engine (available in 'Superlight' track-focused variant).

Elemental Rp1 interiors
The interior of the Elemental Rp1 is limited to two sports seats with 4-point seat belts.

The car is equipped with a suspension system which can be easily adjusted as per the requirements by just using a couple of spanners and an Allen key. The dashboard has a display which supports optional GPS, G-load sensors, data logging and a CAN data signal feed straight from the ECU.

The cabon fibre sports seats offer 4-point seat belts and there are storage areas on either side of the longitudinal engine to store helmets and track gears.

Elemental is planning to build limited number of GT-Cup spec cars in time for the 2015 season. Deliveries of road legal versions would begin in the summer of 2015. Pricing is expected to at par with rivals such as the Ariel Atom.
