Facelifted Jeep Compass prioritised over 7-seat Jeep Compass - Report
The 7-seat Jeep Compass (codename: Low-D) was previously said to be launched in 2020. According to new a report from Autocar India, its launch has been postponed to 2021 as FCA wishes to focus on the facelifted Jeep Compass first.
The Jeep Compass is said to receive a major makeover with the facelift. The revisions will comprise major sheet metal changes, new and updated features, some design tweaks and a redone cabin, making it at par with the latest segment rivals.
FCA will wait until 2021 to launch Low-D, which will be based on the facelifted Jeep Compass. It will comprise the genuine ‘Jeep DNA’ and will be a capable off-roader despite its heavier outer appearance. Its ex-showroom prices may start around INR 20 lakh.
In terms of mechanicals, the Jeep Low-D will feature a BS-VI 2.0-litre MultiJet II diesel engine churning out 173 PS of maximum power and 350 Nm of peak torque. The engine is most likely to come with 6-speed manual and 9-speed automatic transmission choices. FCA might offer the BS-VI version of the 1.4L MultiAir petrol engine (163 PS/250 Nm) engine as well to keep the pricing competitive. This engine may be paired with a 6-speed MT or a 7-speed DCT.

The Jeep Low-D will rival the global monocoque-bodied 7-seat SUVs such as the Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace, Skoda Kodiaq and the Honda CR-V, as well as the Tata Buzzard.
