Update - Fenin has sent a few more pictures of the Abarth Punto parked in the dealership for display. FCA India have not confirmed the exact date in October or a price, but India's first hot hatchback is expected to come at a price of under INR 10 lakhs.

Expected to cost a shade under INR 10 lakhs, ex-Showroom.

Indian Autos Blog reader, Mr. Fenin Rexo, snapped these images of the Abarth Punto outside a dealership, hinting that the market launch of the hot-hatch, is just days away.

The Abarth Punto will be the second product from the performance brand for FCA India.

FCA India showcased the Abarth Punto at the market launch of the Abarth 595 Competizione last month, and early media drive reviews have confirmed the technical specifications of the go-faster Punto.

Power comes from a 1.4-liter T-Jet four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, delivering 143 bhp at 5,500 rpm and 211.52 Nm of torque between 2,000–4,000 rpm, to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission. At 9.53 seconds to do the 0-100 km/h sprint, the Abarth Punto is India's quickest non-luxury hatchback, though its top-speed remains unknown.

Unlike the Abarth 595, the Abarth Punto will be made at the Ranjangaon plant in Maharashtra.

On the outside, the Abarth Punto sports the Abarth Scorpion logos instead of the Fiat logos, gets 16-inch alloy wheels, side body graphics, color-coordinated wing mirror caps, and a lower ride height (reduced by 30 mm to 155 mm). Changes inside are reserved to sporty pedals, an Abarth logo on the steering wheel and contrast stitching for the seats.
