Production-spec Fiat Aegea spotted testing - Spied

Will be named differently when launched.

The production-spec Fiat Aegea has been spotted testing in the outskirts of Turin, Italy by Motoring reader Mr. Simon Rockman. The design was first previewed by the near-production Fiat Aegea concept in May, and has been confirmed for launch in 40 markets mainly in Middle East, Africa and Europe.

The final production-spec design is likely to look identical to the Fiat Aegea concept unveiled in Istanbul, Turkey.

The test mule appears to be heavily clad to hide the final production-spec design, although it is expected to mimic the exterior of the Fiat Aegea, as seen in the taillamps, C-pillar design and the side view mirrors.

The near-production concept measures 4500 mm long, 1780 mm wide and 1480 mm high, with a 2640 mm wheelbase. The Fiat Aegea will spawn a hatchback (Fiat Bravo successor) and estate variants, due for launch next year.

Fiat haven't revealed detailed engine specifications yet. The company has divulged that the Aegea will come with two Multijet II diesel engines and two petrol motors, paired to manual and automatic transmissions. Power outputs will range between 95 and 120 hp, while the most fuel efficient diesel variant will return above 25 km/l mileage, according to Fiat.

A Fiat executive has told media that the production-spec Fiat Aegea will be christened another name when launched. Initially, it will only be available as a left-hand-drive model, with Fiat evaluating the need to develop an RHD model for markets like the U.K and Australia.

Fiat India currently does not have the Fiat Aegea in its business plans, although they did announce that the successor to the Fiat Linea will be coming in 2017.
