Spied - IAB reader snaps the Fiat Avventura ahead of its pre-festive season launch
Indian Autos Blog reader, Mr. Gaurang Khandelwal, spotted the upcoming Fiat Avventura on test in Maharashtra recently.
The Avventura is Fiat's answer to the VW Cross Polo and the Toyota Etios Cross. It is based on the Punto, but is differentiated on the outside by styling details like an external spare wheel, roof rails, plastic body surrounds, projector headlights and 16-inch alloy wheels.
On the inside, the Avventura shown at the Auto Expo featured an all-black interior with contrast orange stitching and dials, and tilt-and-roll gauges. However, this spyshot shows the car wearing a beige interior similar to the 2014 Linea.
Power for the Avventura will come from the same set of engines powering the Punto, which coincidentally is ready for a re-launch in August. The petrol range will see power come from 1.2-liter and 1.4-liter four-cylinder engines and the diesel Avventura will get a 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine. The Auto Expo show car came with a 6-speed manual gearbox, which is currently unseen in the Punto or Linea.
The Avventura will be made at Fiat's Ranjangaon plant, where its siblings, Linea and Punto, are manufactured. Fiat could also explore the opportunity of exporting the Avventura. The Indian launch of the Avventura is expected to take place around September.
