Fiat India to introduce 3 models in 2015 - Report

All launches are niche products.

Overdrive is reporting that Fiat will introduce 3 models in India this year.

Having missed its initial launch timeline of late-2014, the Fiat 595 Competizione Abarth will come out in July featuring a 1.4-litre T-Jet unit with a fixed geometry turbo that outputs 160 PS at 5,500 rpm and 230 Nm at 3,000 rpm in Sport mode. While the car features an AMT, Overdrive is not ruling out a manual transmission option.

Next up is the Fiat Punto T-Jet, slated to come out in August or September. Featuring a 1.4-liter T-Jet engine, it will make 135 PS, but if the car stays the way the pre-production mules do, it would not look any different from the Punto Evo save for the new alloy wheel pattern.

The third launch for Fiat in India is not just a car, but a brand - Jeep. Fiat initially planned to introduce the American SUV icon in India in 2013, but launch plans got pushed to 2015 as the company believed that the market conditions were not favourable. The Jeep Grand Cherokee would launch the brand in India during the festive season (around October) featuring a 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine that makes 240 PS and 580 Nm. It is unclear if Fiat will start sales with CKD or CBU vehicles.

While Fiat has also confirmed the Jeep Wrangler for India, which isn't printed in the story, it does however mention that the Jeep Renegade could see an introduction locally in the future.
