Fiat India rolls out 250,000th car and 500,000th engine from Ranjangaon

Fiat India Automobiles Limited (the 50-50 joint venture between Fiat S.p.A and Tata Motors) announced that they have rolled out the 250,000th car and the 500,000th engine from their Ranjangaon factory in Pune.

 

The Ranjangaon facility, apart from making petrol and diesel engines for its own consumption, also supplies engines to Maruti Suzuki and Premier Automobiles, apart from Tata Motors. Spread over 200 acres, the facility provides employment for 4,000 direct and in-direct personnel.

The facility is capable of producing 200,000 cars, 300,000 engines, and 300,000 parts and accessories a year. The joint venture has invested INR 4,000 crores and currently makes the Fiat Grande Punto, Linea, Tata Manza, Indica Vista and the Indica V2. The 1.3-liter MultiJet diesel, and the 1.2-liter FIRE and 1.4-liter FIRE petrol are the engine variants made in this plant.

Ranjangaon also makes the Manza, Vista and Indica V2 apart from the Punto and Linea.

Spokesmen for Fiat and Tata Motors said -

The manufacturing facility has enabled us to leverage synergetic benefits and will further aid us in tapping the potential that the growing Indian market has to offer. The facility will also be utilized for manufacturing of some of the new products that will be launched in future by both the partners.
