The Fiat Mobi will replace the Fiat Uno Vivace when it goes on sale from April 18.

Reports suggest that the front section of the Mobi’s platform is sourced from the Fiat Uno, while the rear section is, reportedly, developed from scratch. On the safety front, Fiat has put focus on reinforcing the chassis for better crash test results. It will also source windshields, roof stamping and front doors from the Fiat Uno. The wheelbase is reported to be around 2.35 meters.

Although the interior is not photographed in this instance, spyshots have revealed that it comes equipped with a simple 3-spoke steering wheel, a small vertical display in the instrument cluster, vertical HVAC vents in the middle and circular HVAC vents on the sides. Higher variants could get steering-mounted controls and an infotainment system. The Mobi’s boot space is reported to be 260 liters.

Under the hood is a 1.0-litre engine that produces 73 bhp (petrol)/75 bhp (ethanol) that is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. A new 1.0-liter three cylinder GSE (Global Small Engine) with start-stop technology will come in 2017, state several Brazilian reports.

At launch, prices are expected to start from BRL 29,000 (INR 5.31 lakhs), and will be available in three grades: Easy, Like and Drive. The Mobi will also spawn a pseudo crossover version, the Fiat Mobi Way, that could start from BRL 40,000 (INR 7.33 lakhs).
