Update - The Punto facelift shown below does not feature on the product maps outside the APAC region.

Fiat will introduce a facelifted Punto by the end of this year, and this will mark the first major design overhaul for the hatchback since its launch in 2009 in India.

Image of the current Punto added for reference.

The facelifted Punto has been spotted on test in-and-around Fiat's Ranjangaon plant in Maharashtra many a time this year. Though the test mule was camouflaged, we noticed that the headlights on the Punto facelift are the same as those seen on the Fiat Avventura, a crossover based on the Punto that was showcased at the Auto Expo, with plans to launch this year. Earlier in the year our render artist, Shoeb, even made a digital sketch of what the Punto facelift with Avventura's lights would look like.

The image you see here is part of a presentation made by Fiat's headquarters. The presentation clearly shows the refreshed Punto wearing the Avventura's headlights, and confirms that an Indian launch will take place this year. The Punto facelift seen here will not be reserved to the Indian market, but will in fact be a global facelift program will be reserved to the Indian market and the countries to which Fiat India chooses to export it to.

The refreshed Punto will get interiors similar to the refreshed Linea seen in this image.

Other design changes seen on the car include a larger grille, a new front bumper with redesigned foglight enclosures and thick chrome surrounds for the foglights. Inside, the refreshed Punto will sport a cabin identical to the refreshed 2014 Linea.

Engine options will be carried over from the current Punto which is offered with two petrol engines and one diesel engine. The base petrol is a 1.2-liter engine producing 68 PS and 96 Nm of torque, while the 1.4-liter petrol makes 90 PS and 115 Nm of torque. The 1.3-liter diesel is available in two power states of 76 PS and 197 Nm and 93 PS and 209 Nm. All variants get a 5-speed manual transmission.
