Expected to debut early next year.

A rendering of the upcoming Fiat city car codenamed X1H has been published by Car And Driver magazine, based on the spyshots that have emerged thus far. Expected to debut in Brazil in early 2016, the A-segment hatchback will be manufactured at Fiat’s plant in Betim, and will be sold only in South America.

The Fiat X1H would be built with some components borrowed from the Palio and the Uno.

To be positioned below the Fiat Uno, the X1H is smaller in size compared to the former, and has a shorter front end to accommodate most likely the 1.0-litre four-cylinder engine that is seen aboard the Fiat Palio Fire. This engine churns out 73 bhp of maximum power on petrol and 75 bhp on ethanol, at 6,250 rpm. It is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.

The Fiat X1H was anticipated to host the yet-to-debut 1.0-litre three-cylinder six-valve engine, but it is reported that the powertrain is still under development and that it will not be ready by the time the X1H will have to be put on sale.

The city car will be powered by two new 1-liter engines with Start-Stop tech.

In addition, a 12-valve turbocharged version of the 1.0-litre four-cylinder motor is expected to be offered, as per Brazilian publications. Both the variants of the engine would be equipped with a stop-start system for lower CO2 emissions and improved fuel economy.

The Fiat X1H will compete with A-segment cars like the upcoming Renault Kwid and the VW Gol. Apart from the standard model, Autossegredos has reported that an Adventure variant of the X1H will also be launched.
