Unlike the Panigale V4, the V4 S and the V4 Speciale, the Panigale V4 R uses 998 cc motor that aims to bring the motorcycle within the displacement limits established by World Superbike championship guidelines. The Desmosedici Stradale R V4 engine churns out 221 hp at 15,250 rpm and 112 Nm of maximum torque at 11,500 rpm. The peak performance can be further boosted with full-racing Ducati Performance exhaust from Akrapovic, which takes the power output to 234 hp at 15,500 rpm.
Styling cues bring MotoGP style wings on the fairing for better downforce at high speeds. Other features of the litre-class, road-legal Panigale V4 R include race-grade titanium-nitride-coated 43mm Ohlins NPX 25/30 forks at the front and Ohlins TTX 36 at the back with mechanical adjustment, Brembo Stylema callipers and an aluminium swingarm with an adjustable four-position axle. Unlike the Panigale V4 S and the V4 Speciale, the V4 R misses the electronically operated suspension setup. Moreover, the fairing on the R model has been designed and developed by Ducati Corse along with the Ducati Style Centre.
