The first Ford product to be fully influenced by this concept is the next generation Ford F-150, presently under development, and is America's best selling pickup brand for the last 36 years.

The Atlas sports a purpose-driven design with bolstered wheel arches and a chiseled grille.

It features many practical touches such as multiple tie-down points tucked along the cargo box walls and load floor, and to charge power tools, 110-volt electrical outlets in the cargo box. Thin, lightweight seats trimmed in leather are designed to provide extra leg room at the rear. The buttons and controls are glove-friendly.

The Atlas features the next-generation EcoBoost powertrain that comes with a start-stop motor, which is suspended when the truck is towing. To save fuel, Ford has designed Active Grille Shutters, Active Wheel Shutters and powered running boards that close when they are not needed/the vehicle is in motion to reduce aerodynamic drag. There's also a drop-down front wind spoiler that lowers at highway speeds to improve air flow around the car. The combination of these technologies enhances fuel economy of the pickup by 2 mpg, Ford elaborates.

A 360-Degree Point-of-View Camera and LED Headlamps and Taillamps are two other firsts for a pickup, featuring on the Ford Atlas Concept.
