New Ford EcoSport (facelift) spied in India for the first time

Could arrive this festive season.

An OnCars reader has managed to spy the new Ford EcoSport (facelift) on a lift system at what appears to be a Ford service centre. This is the first time that the facelifted model is seen on Indian soil.

From the angle shot, there appears to be minimal changes over the model currently sold. Most of the cosmetic changes are concentrated up front, where it gets larger projector headlamps, bolder trapezoidal grille, triangular fog lamps, re-sculpted bonnet, new bumper design with a sportier apron and faux skid plates. Like the Brazil-spec model, the facelifted India-spec EcoSport will retain the tailgate-mounted full-size spare tire.

The interior has also not been photographed, but if it's anything like the U.S-spec EcoSport (launch in 2018), the design is simpler and looks more premium, featuring a new steering wheel, wider instrument cluster with a large multi-info display, new HVAC controls, redesigned dashboard housing a freestanding SYNC 3 touchscreen infotainment system.

Most of the cosmetic changes on the new Ford EcoSport are concentrated up front.

The engine lineup is likely to be retained, which includes a 1.5L four cylinder Ti-VCT petrol, 1.5l four cylinder TDCi diesel and a 1.0L EcoBoost petrol. A 5-speed manual will be standard in all variants, while a 6-speed DCT is exclusive to the 1.5 petrol.
