Ford's Sanand plant rolls out the first Figo Aspire - Report
Certain dealers have started accepting bookings for the compact sedan.
Ford India's second manufacturing facility in Sanand, Gujarat, which was inaugurated in March this year, has started production of the Ford Figo Aspire. The compact sedan is expected to launch in India by August this year, and according to reports, certain dealers have also started accepting bookings for the car.
Ford India is in the process of conducting roadshows for the Figo Aspire, across 40-locations in 25 cities in India. When launched, the Figo Aspire will compete with the Maruti Dzire (current segment leader), Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent and the Tata Zest.
The Ford Figo Aspire will be offered with a 1.2-liter TiVCT petrol engine and a 1.5-liter TDCi diesel engine paired to 5-speed manual transmissions. Additionally, Ford India will also offer its 6-speed Powershift dual-clutch transmission with a 1.5-liter petrol engine.
The top-end variants of the Figo Aspire are announced to get front, side and curtain airbags, ABS, EBD, alloy wheels, Ford's SYNC and AppLink multimedia system with voice commands, Ford's programmable MyKey, and ESP, another first in class feature.

The Sanand plant will also manufacture the next generation 2015 Figo hatchback, which is expected to launch in India towards the end of this year.
