2017 Ford GT - 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show Live

Packs more than 600 hp.

Ford is showcasing the 2017 Ford GT at the 2015 IAA in Frankfurt. The Ford GT made its debut at the 2015 NAIAS (Detroit Motor Show), and is expected to hit showrooms in 2017.

The Ford GT rides on a chassis made of advanced lightweight and rigid components, and also houses a carbon fibre passenger cell with aluminium front and rear subframes that have been enveloped in structural carbon fibre body parts.

The design is radical step from the older V8-powered Ford GT, and relies on aerodynamics for smooth performance, as seen in the optimum tear-drop shape to its aircraft-inspired fuselage. Design wise, the new Ford GT comes with LED headlamps and unique DRLs, two large sculpted air scoops on the hood, and a front splitter.

It gets 20-inch wheels shod with Michelin Pilot Super Sport Cup 2 tires, while the rear-end features two round LED tailamps, dual central exhausts, an active rear spoiler and a carbon fiber diffuser.

The doors open in a dihedral fashion, and reveals a track-focused interior. Both the driver and passenger seats are integrated directly into the carbon fibre passenger cell, while the driver pedals and the F1-inspired steering are adjustable.

The most powerful EcoBoost engine ever made by the Blue Oval, the 3.5-liter V6 will power the Ford GT. The engine produces "more than 600 hp" says Ford. Paired to a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox, the torque will be delivered to the rear wheels.
