Ford Mustang (reportedly India-bound) - 2015 Seoul Live

Indian launch expected around Diwali this year.

Ford has displayed its legendary muscle car Mustang at the ongoing 2015 Seoul motor show, which is already on sale in the South Korean market for a starting price of 45,350,000 South Korean Won (INR 26,00,520). We reported earlier that Ford India is planning to launch the ‘pony car’ in the festive season this year, citing media reports.

The Ford Mustang is in its sixth generation, and is a significantly better car on several accounts. The current generation features a fully-independent suspension at the rear on all variants, Ecoboost 4-cylinder engines, and the first ever right-hand drive (RHD) Mustangs produced in its 50 years of existence.

The 2015 Mustang is available in three trims - a 3.7-liter V6 capable of 300 bhp and 365 Nm of torque, a 2.3-liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine producing 305 bhp and 406 Nm of torque, and a GT version with a larger 5.0-liter V8 making 420 bhp and 528 Nm of torque. All the power units are offered with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed auto transmissions.

The Mustang is offered in two body styles - 2-Door Coupé Fastback and 2-Door Convertible. To speak of some features, the model gets Ford’s SYNC multimedia system, USB, iPod, and auxiliary input jacks, 17-inch or 19-inch alloy wheels, keyless access with push-button start, and Blind Spot warning system depending on the trim.

In 2013, Ford India conducted a feasibility study on bringing in the Mustang muscle car to India. Last month, Ford’s global CEO Mark Fields reportedly confirmed its arrival to some dealers during the Sanand plant inauguration.
