The 2019 Ford Territory is not the successor to the Australia-made 7-seat family SUV that went out of production in 2016.

The 2019 Ford Territory is not the successor to the Australian-made model that was phased out in 2016. It’s co-developed with local joint venture partner Jiangling Motors Corporation, essentially the JMC Yusheng S330 with a different design, riding on the Landwind X7’s platform.

The 2019 Ford Territory is 4,580 mm long, 1,936 mm wide and 1,674 mm in height. Its wheelbase spans a length of 2,716 mm. One can argue here that it’s much bigger than the Hyundai Creta. Under the hood, is JMC’s JX4G15C5L 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 105 kW (142.76 PS). Customers will get an option of 48-volt mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants, although their specifications aren’t out yet.

JMC-Ford will offer the Territory with features like full-LED headlights, LED DRLs that double as turn indicators, 18-inch alloy wheels, panoramic sunroof, all-black interior, large touchscreen infotainment system, adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking and more. Between this model and the JMC Yusheng S330, the former looks more premium and advanced.

The 2019 Ford Territory, at least for the time being, is a China-only model. For emerging markets including India, the Blue Oval will rely on such products developed with local JV partners. In India, the company has collaborated with Mahindra for the same.
